End of Year Update!

Hello every-one,
We have had quite an intersting school year, It began very late for us Mid-November. We had some ups and downs which led to a great learning experience for us. And two weeks before I left there was an attempted break-in at the main missionary house, but God be praised that it was unsuccessful. This all happened while I was out late condoling with our Head Teacher Naphtaly and his family over the loss of his Step-Mom.

The day I left, our pioneer class six was writing their common entrance exam. We certainly hope they do well. Gregory is working on putting the finishing touches on the new class block, and we will need help with the Cement for plastering  and flooring. Gregory has been working hard stocking up the sand we need. We will need by his estimate between 40 to 50 bags @ 5000 - 5500cfa each (550$us). We will also begin work on teacher housing on  site at the school January 2013.

We have also been working on a school garden and we started with some beans and green spices and we hope to expand it in the coming year. We also cleared up a portion to use as a football/handball field.

Evangelism. We will be quite busy in the latter part of the year, with some outreach programs. We are thinking of doing a series of lifestyle programs in October and a tent meeting in Mid-November to early December ending up with the district camp meeting, the third week of December. We are also looking to expand our evangelistic pursuits to neighboring towns and villages. Gregory will work close with me on the Kibo and Misage areas. And another opportunity opened for us at Naphtaly's bereavement, as we spent that whole evening showing some animated bible stories and New beginnings in Pidgin. The village is west of the airstrip and is part of the Nkambe Division, and some of the people in attendance pleaded that we come and show the new begginnings in their village. Naphtaly and Divine will work on this during the school holiday. We are also looking at distributing copies of The Great Hope. The Cameroon Mission will be able to get us a large number of copies at a discounted price, but we still have to confirm this with them when we return in September

Our Most pressing needs.2 -4 Bible workers(We hope one SAU student will join us in January, hint)
4 Teachers (We have 3 interests so far for September)
Sound Ssytem for the Tent meeting (Our thanks go to one of our close family friends for this one)

We thank the LORD for every-one that has made our 2011-2012 plans a reality. We pray that the LORD will bless you as you continue to support his work in Lassin

Jesus Film

We are now into our second week of showing the Jesus Film, and the attendance is beginning to improve. Our first day did not have much people, but the second showing doubled to about 60 and yesterday's showing had upwards of 100 and might double or triple on Thursday as interest is growing. We pray that out of all those attending the LORD will touch many hearts as we are planning a  week of prayer afterwards.

Things are not all rosy for us, a month ago a national holiday fell on the sabbath. And our school did not officially participate which has the Divisional Officer very irate. He was ready to stop the process of approval for our school, but some-one was doing their job and the papers are already out of his reach.(The Divisional Officer is the highest Law Official in the Sub-Division) Praise the LORD! I am still to go in and see him and I know this is a dress rehearsal for what is soon to hit us as an overwhelming surprise. God does not put for us fiery trials that we cannot handle.Amen!

As it is written, Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

Lassin Update March 2012

The LORD is beginning to crack open doors for us for Evangelism and we want to take full advantage. We have finally managed to have a stand and screen set-up for the projector and will begin showing at the first, the Jesus Film and as time goes on we will add some New Beginnings studies. This will be in addition to a number of families we have been showing these to around the neighborhood. This project will be taking place at the village centre and we are soliciting for your prayers to make it a success. Other smaller scale opportunities are opening up for us for individual bible studies. Our baptist neighbor has lots of questions especially about the state of the dead and the sabbath, choosing a life partner and so on. God has been gracious and placed in our hands such material as to answer those questions. (Thanks Steve and Carol)

Also last sabbath, as I was taking the children's class for a nature walk and literature distribution, we came across the Village Imam for the Islamic community. And he has given us the go ahead to come to his compound and show the animated bible films. We are praying that all the Islamic children will come out for this.

Our only setback right now is a sound system as the noise from the market might/will drown out our small speakers. Pray for this as well that we will be able to secure something that can rise above the sounds of the market and reduce distractions.

The classroom block is getting closer to its completion, later this week the carpenter will begin setting up the roof and our biggest need now will be getting the zinc for the roof. We are learning hard lessons about trusting in God. Keep the project in your prayers

In the pictures, the lady with the bandage has a very terrible sore which she is too poor to get treated at the health centre. She has had the sore for quite a while and it is taking some time for us to nurse her to health. But God is good and working with her. Since we started treating her she is feeling less and less pain on that leg. she used to have sleepless nights because of the pain, but about two weeks into our treatment she is sleeping like a baby. So much that her neighbor the first night she slept through woke her up with a bang because she thought she had died. And now that neighbor is doing bible studies with Merlisa, Praise the LORD! Further more our patient is now able to move away from her hut, without much pain which she was not able to do previously, let us keep her also in prayers, her name is Euphrencia

Hey every-one, here are pictures of the new block going up. Keep us in your prayers as we labour to finish God's work. We are planning a number of showings of the Jesus film and select New beginnings in the market hall this month and the next. I pray God will bless the effort.

Lassin Update

It's been a very busy month and a half and a lot of things have been happening in and around Lassin. Just yesterday close to our school a dead cow was found, poisoned suspectedly by the farmer on whose farm it was found. I missed most of the action, but I did see scores of people running through our school with cutlasses. I later found out it was a rush to divide the free meat. These people need lots of health reform.

We have been studying with some families and showing the New Beginnings Study on the projector and so far their response has been positive. After the study is over they send a barrage of questions. Praise the LORD for true education, we always have the right answers for them. How ever these 8 day market day cycles sometimes wreck havoc with our study times coz of people's availabilty

December was quite eventful. We had a camp meeting for the newly formed Bamenda district 2(Noni) and it was a very pleasant experience for us Lassinites. Everything went smooth and the presentations were uplifting. To top December off the much awaited and anticipated Noni new testament was launched on the 23rd with much fanfare.

Also around the same time we started personal ministries, visiting the sick and elderly and praying for them as well as meeting those needs which they can't take care of or have no one to take care for them. Also having obtained a copy of the Noni new testament Naphtaly has been reading select scriptures to them in their own tongue and they have been loving and appreciating it. Praise The LORD!

The school has seen increased activity as we try to get all our building needs (bricks, steel rods etc and lumber) to finish the last classroom block before the rainy season comes. We pray that we will also get all the funds we need to get everything done. The LORD will make a way.

The church has not seen any growth and Praise the LORD we have not lost any members. We are currently going through a lot of study and teaching of practical ways to be prepared for the crisis and we pray that our new personal ministry drive as well as other ministries we are doing will bring more people into the knowledge of the truth and they will be able to heed the loud cry. Amen!
